Move over Valentino and Prada, there's a new elaborate design that's
suddenly the talk of the town —with a price tag you won't believe!
British designer Debbie Wingham has created the world's most expensive dress valued at nearly $17.7 million and encrusted with (gasp!) red diamonds.
Only the rarest gems in the world.
Princess Diana's iconic dresses sell for at London auction
That's right, the "Abaya" design features an oversized caftan
silhouette (a nod to the designer's undying affection for Dubai)
trimmed with red and black floral embellishments, dripping in opulent
jewels including 50 two-carat black diamonds, 50 two-carat white
diamonds, 1,899 black-and-white pointer diamonds and 1,000 pointer
rubies, all set in (what else?) 14-karat gold.
No big deal.
Wingham
notes that her dress is more of a show piece, and will never be sold.
"The red diamond is borrowed, and they are so rare I could never get
another one, nor would the private collector ever want to sell, " she
tells Today.com.
What do you think of the world's most expensive dress?
